Changing the Currency

2 min read

The Reseller Toolkit was originally created for the needs of American and Canadian users, so it’s set up to use dollars and American formatting, but it can be used in other countries as well. In this article, we’ll cover how to change the currency to Euros for European users. While the currency is cosmetic and doesn’t affect calculations or functionality, it is of course easier to use the Toolkit when everything is in your native currency.

Important: These changes require that you be signed in as the owner of the file. If you are signed in as a user, you must change to the owner for most of these changes to be possible.

Locale Warning #

Please note that changing the Locale for the file alone will not update existing currency formatting, and worse, it will affect date formats that will break how some formulas are parsed. As such, it’s important that you not change the Locale to something that uses a different date format, since it is likely to break formulas the rely on converting text dates to numbers.

Changing cell currency #

Many of the cells with financial information are editable, and for these it’s easy to change the currency. Let’s start with the Inventory sheet (/tab) as an example. It only has 2 columns, H and I (rows 3 to 10,000), with financial records in a currency format. To change the formatting, simply select all affected cells click clicking in the top-left cell (e.g. H3 for inventory) and dragging all the way down to the last affected cell (I10000 for Inventory). Next, go to Format > Number > Custom Currency. In this pop-up, choose the currency formatting you want to use, either by typing it at the top or selecting it in the list, and then click Apply.

Once a currency is selected, it will at least appear at the top of the list when you next go into the selection, but this process does unfortunately need to be repeated for all affected cells in the file.
