Introduction #
Just as not all of your revenue is likely to come from sales, not all of your expenses are likely linked to acquiring inventory. You might have to pay for equipment, professional services (like an accountant), packaging and supplies, advertising, etc. The Expenses tab of the Reseller Toolkit gives you a way to track costs other than inventory for your business.
The Expenses tab is divided into two halves: the left side captures specific expense transactions, and the right side provides a way to report on and analyze that data. Data is only entered in the table on the left.
Columns #
Date: Enter the date the expense was charged in the format 12/31/2025. Please note that only expenses you have paid for should be tracked here; the worksheet has no way to distinguish between expenses that are owed vs. ones that have been paid. (Unpaid expenses could be recorded as liabilities in the Assets & Liabilities tab.)
Description: Include a short description that will help you identify the expense later.
Category: Choose an appropriate category for the expense based on the categories that you set up in the My Business tab.
Amount: The amount that you paid for the expense, exclusive of tax (if any was changed).
Tax: If you paid tax for the expense, enter it in this column.
Notes #
- Inventory purchase costs are tracked in the Inventory tab only. Don’t record purchases related to inventory items here as well or they will be double-counted in reports.
