Before you can use any other tabs, you must spend a few minutes populating information relevant to your resale operation in the “My Business” tab. This is the second tab of the spreadsheet.
The very first field to populate is your Business Name, and we use this name through the other tabs to help personalize your tables and reports. Plus, in case you operate multiple resale businesses, having your business name show up everywhere makes it easy to confirm at a quick glance that you’re looking at the right organization.
Country and Currency are optional, but again, they’re a great way to personalize the Google worksheet and they let you distinguish between businesses if you do have several, even if they share operating names.
Generally speaking, editable fields (so fields where you can enter data) use black text and have outside borders. In the screenshot below, you can see that the Platform fields are all editable (like Poshmark, eBay, Etsy, etc.), while the first 4 expense categories cannot be changed; only the 5th category and beyond are editable.
If you don’t need all of the available fields in a section, that’s fine. Enter the values you need from the top down, then leave any remaining rows blank.
In this worksheet, make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom, as there are 160 rows and it’s easy to miss some. And if you’re not sure what to enter yet, it’s okay to leave the default values in place and update them as needed in the future.
