RelistKit Beta: The App for Canadian Resellers
If you’ve tried selling clothing online in Canada, you already know the pain points. Take photos of the item from multiple angles, write up a description on Poshmark, copy/paste it to eBay, resize photos, do it again on Depop, then do it once more on Facebook Marketplace. Each platform has its own quirks and sets of fields. And then when something sells, it’s a mad scramble to find where it’s listed on other platforms so you can take listings down as quickly as possible so you don’t get a strike against your profile for having to cancel a sale.
The end-to-end process was taking me 10 minutes or more for every single listing. That’s not even counting the time to record the listing as sold in an accounting system and to update related records every time a sale happened. All added up, a typical listing could take 15 minutes of a seller’s time, which is a huge hit to potential profit margins.
A few years ago I introduced the Reseller Toolkit, which at least helped resellers keep records better organized and the bookkeeping part of the business more efficient. Many resale platforms have introduced AI-driven tools to help with listings, but the output is invariably of poor quality and very obviously AI, which turns many buyers off. And there are tools out there trying to make things easier, like cross-listing and inventory tools, but they’re often limited and not designed for Canadians.
Introducing RelistKit
I decided that the best way to address the problem was to build a complete, end-to-end platform myself (and with my team). The result is RelistKit, which consists of a browser extension and website that work together. The extension lives inside Poshmark, eBay, Depop, and Facebook Marketplace in Chrome. The website is where your inventory, sales, and reports live.
The idea was pretty simple: build a tool that complements my current workflow. Every item starts as a Poshmark draft with photos. RelistKit reads the photos and writes the whole listing, including doing price comp research, so all you have to do is review the draft and publish it. From there, one click copies the listings to eBay, Depop, and/or Facebook Marketplace, with extra fields on those platforms automatically populated. As you work, the system captures all of your listings and sales behind the scenes so you don’t have to manually track your inventory and sales records.
That’s the loop. Photos, generate, review, publish, cross-list. It makes listing up to 90% faster.
Why we built it ourselves
We looked hard at the cross-listing and resale tools already out there. Most are built for American sellers on American platforms, and the parts that matter to Canadians (GST/HST rules, operating in Canadian dollars, CRA rules, etc.) are often insufficient or missing. I also wanted a number of features that simply weren’t available elsewhere, and I knew we could do a better job.
What RelistKit does for you
The platform is still in development and will be opening up for beta testing soon. It’s something I use myself now, and the list below is what it already includes. When we do a public launch within the next two months, it will include even more.
- Writes listings for you. Generate full listings based on my own listing rules and platform best practices using advanced models.
- Cross-lists to eBay.ca, Depop, and Facebook Marketplace with one click. Just check the drafts and publish. We automatically populate about triple the number of fields on eBay as other cross-listing tools.
- Records your sales automatically. Set up email forwarding once, just like you would for a vacation reply, and from then on we use your email notifications to automatically mark things as sold and send you links to instantly take listings down from other platforms.
- Researches comp pricing for you. Using live searches, we check what items actually sold for and give you pricing advice.
- Brings in your existing closet. Hundreds of Poshmark listings can be added to your inventory in one go, photos included, at a human pace that won’t get your account flagged for misuse.
- Tracks your mileage the way the CRA wants. Every sourcing trip and post office run gets logged, and we give you the line item values to put on your tax return.
- Handles consignment. Sell for a friend or a sourcing partner, and RelistKit automatically calculates what’s owed and tracks your payments to partners.
- Offers useful reporting and advice. Too many dormant items in inventory? Did some items not get cross-listed? Did a sale on eBay not have its shipping label cost entered? RelistKit will let you know.
What RelistKit will never do
We think this matters just as much as the features list.
- It never publishes for you. Every listing goes live only when you publish it yourself. There’s always an opportunity for review.
- It never guesses. An empty field beats a confident wrong value on a live listing.
- It never runs while you’re away. Nothing happens secretly in the night and we don’t have control of your accounts. Everything that happens on a resale platform happens in a browser as you watch.
Safe and private by design
Resellers have too often been burned by tools that require their access details and run on someone else’s server. We’re respectful of platform terms and do everything in your browser as a human would.
- It is not a bot. RelistKit never posts, shares, follows, relists, or publishes anything on your behalf. It fills out forms on pages already open on your browser, and to resale platforms; it just looks like you’re typing quickly.
- We never have your logins. You sign in to Poshmark, eBay, Depop, and Facebook as you always do. RelistKit works inside your signed-in browser tabs and never sees, stores, or transmits personal user data.
- Your data is yours. Your photos and listing data live in your own RelistKit account and are never sold or shared.
Who the beta is for
We’re running a beta for several weeks that will hopefully include users from our community. It will be a chance to try out the product before it’s available to the general public, and to provide feedback to our team that will help shape further development.
- Canadian resellers only. Everything was built around Canadian platforms and rules, so it will only be useful if you resell exclusively in Canada.
- Poshmark, eBay, Depop, and Facebook Marketplace. We’ll add other platform support later, but for the beta, only those four platforms are supported.
- Chrome on a computer. The platform works everywhere, but the browser extension requires Chrome on a desktop or laptop.
